Two Halves

Inspired by Nazrul's Adho Dhoroni Alo

Half the world is dark
And half is steeped in day -
The dawn of life sweeps
Shadows of dusk away.

Half of us rejoice
Another half do cry -
We pass from mood to
Mood with one gentle sigh.

Half of love is sweet
And half of bitter kind -
Love and angst will hence
Play checkers in the mind.

If all is ruled by
Two Halves in constant strife,
What, I wonder, is
The other half of life?

Truly Beautiful! And interesting inspiration too. Rarely do we see inspirations helping others create such commendable work!

Death seems to be the obvious answer, but I was wondering have you ever thought of Dreams as being opposed to Life?

I guess we all live through quite a few of the halves the life is divided in -coz it can be divided on many planes-but still keep asking this question.... though the words are different each time

Khoob mon diye moner kotha lekha hoyeche tai dekhchi oneker mon ee shada diyeche!

i especially liked the last 2 verses of this poem. your take is about everything in life being in black and white, but life is often a plethora of shades between the black and the white! and there is one mood apart from happiness and grief - drowsiness :D i aint happy, and i aint sad! its just that rains are doing funny things to my brain and inducing drowsiness :)

and yes, before i forget, your bro guided me to your blog :)
